Latest Projects
OK, so there have been other reasons why I haven't been blogging..(you mean besides changing 3 in diapers, laundry, cleaning up, schoolwork, discipline and cooking?) YES. I have been working on a few fun things too. Birthday cakes (we had 2 birthdays a week apart), quilts, and a new dog. (She's a stray that showed up on our porch a few weeks ago.) So here are some pics of the new things in our busy lives:
Here's Daisy the hound dog. Very skinny here, but is putting on a little bit of weight.
Here's a Jon-Jon for the baby.
Power Ranger's birthday cake for boy #3!
Rag throw quilt
My 3 yo girl's Princess castle cake.

Well, that's all I have time to upload for now. I've been having fun! Learning new things and trying a little bit of everything! Trying to use my time wisely!

Canning 101
This past Friday, a dear friend of mine came over and devoted a whole day to teaching me the art of canning. I would like to share what I learned with you.
kettle

The very first thing you need to do is fill your large canner half full of water and start it on the stove for boiling. It will take a loooooooooong time for this baby to get boiling.
Then peel, core and slice apples or pears if using. This is where an apple corer that attaches to your countertop comes in VERY handy.
As my dear friend said, there's just something about seeing your shelves lined with jars of food for your family that you made. It's just one of those things, that you can look upon at the end of the day and know you were productive!

Homemaking
Here is a wonderful site that combines helpful household tips with very healthy recipes. I can't wait to start using the tortilla recipe! MMMMmmm....(we go through tortillas at our house like wildfire!)
Anyway, I haven't had a chance to peruse the entire site, but I am so looking forward to using this site as a handy reference!
Hope you find it helpful too!

One of my ALL TIME FAVORITE sites
Ok ya'll...if you like easy, cheap, wholesome ideas for meals for your family...look no further. I LOVE this site. The name of it says it all:
http://www.hillbillyhousewife.com/index.htm
There is SO much more on this site that I love to read. Plan to spend some time there, it's just wonderful!
OK, I do need to make a revision...as my very wise SIL pointed out, some of her recipes don't use the healthiest ingredients, so I do personally switch them up to suit our family's nutritional needs! We LOVE the scrambled rice and the best pinto beans recipes -off the top of my head! OH and the orange jubilee is awesome! (We use natural sweeteners in our recipes and butter instead of margarine in the others...just for a few ideas.)

WELCOME
I've started a list of products with "tried and true" large family recommendations. Everything listed will not work for every family, but hey, if I can save someone else the time of searching the web for all these resources, then it would be worth it.
For homeschooling families, I will post links to sites for all types of subjects, resources, and curriculum. Once again, most of these links will be particular favorites that have been successful for our family, or for other homeschool families. Remember, “tried and true” will be our mantra!
Remember that I constantly update links, add links and categories ALL THE TIME. Also, if you don't see a favorite link that you LOVE, post it here in a link and I will get it uploaded.
